Hickory Golf and the Monarchs House Championship

Hickory Golf and the Monarchs House Championship

For the past 10 years, the Monarchs House Championship has been vied for over the 18 holes that is the Ladies Putting Club of St Andrews or otherwise known as The Himalayas.  David Brilliant and Phil Canders who both putted their way to 38s set the Championship record in 2003.

This year we are making a change and would like to introduce you to hickory golf at Kingarrock.

Tucked away 10 miles west of St Andrews at the Hill of Tarvit is Kingarrock. Opened in 2008, Kingarrock is a 9-hole course, 2022-yard country estate course that is played exclusively with hickory sticks and period balls.  This is an early 20th century golfing experience that will bring you the same thrill of competition as today along with some of the most fun you’ve had on a golf course in a long, long time.

Last year, two golf professionals who stayed with us at Monarchs House both shot rounds of 40 and have told us that when they return this year, they plan on playing Kingarrock all week! We know you will enjoy it too.

In 2012, the Monarchs House Championship and The Wee Cup (Claret Jug replica) will be contested at Kingarrock. Bring your best 1920 game.
